ninety

ninety is a collection of 90 photos taken with a Nikon D90 in 2019 and my first self-directed photo project.

The D90 was 11 years old in 2019, a dated piece of technology seemingly lost in a sea of new cameras. I was 36, married with two children (1 and 4), had quit smoking cigarettes a few months prior, and was working several photo jobs. I had also been watching a lot of photography lectures in early 2019, re-learning the basics and studying modern and historic photographers. I started wondering what I could capture with that ‘old’ D90, some more intention, and an openness to view the world. So while my regular work cameras were off being cleaned in early March 2019, I picked it up and started ninety.

Looking at it now, ninety is a document of me learning to grow personally and professionally, replacing a nicotine addiction with healthy habits, and attempting to capture the beauty and stories I saw everywhere.
